Jennifer Westacott AO will discuss national economic recovery in a keynote address at the 2022 National General Assembly of Local Government.

Ms Westacott is CEO of the Business Council of Australia and one of Australia’s best-known and most powerful business figures.

She has advised major corporations and governments on climate change, sustainability, and significant reform issues and is also a strong advocate for creating a more prosperous and fairer society.

The political backdrop to this year’s NGA (from 19-22 June) will be a new or re-elected federal government, so it will be local government’s first opportunity to discuss with key political leaders how we can best work with them to secure the support and investment needed to build stronger, healthier, more prosperous and resilient communities.

The NGA will also focus on how local governments are responding to new challenges and opportunities to create jobs and drive economic growth.

Mayors and councillors will share their learnings and lived experience leading their communities through the turbulent past few years and our Regional Cooperation and Development Forum will be an opportunity to closely examine emerging trends and issues across our nation as outlined by a range of expert speakers.

Other keynote speakers at this year’s NGA include Val Dempsey, 2022 Senior Australian of the Year, and Jonathan Carr-West, CEO of the Local Government Information (LGiU)

Our host for #NGA22 is executive leadership trainer Alicia McKay; she will also deliver an exclusive introductory masterclass on strategic community leadership.
