Round 9 of the Commonwealth’s Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program opened on 3 February, with grants of up to $3 million are on offer for eligible applicants.
A total of $15 million is available in Round 9, with eligible aerodrome owners or operators able to apply for a grant of between $5,000 and $3 million.
Aerodromes are vital for delivering essential goods and services to remote communities and the program is intended to enhance the safety and accessibility of aerodromes in out-of-the-way places.
Projects eligible for funding can include runway surface upgrades or re-sealing, improved stormwater drainage, runway lighting, and animal-proof fencing.
