Submission on National Guideline for Lithium-ion Battery Waste Management

ALGA has made a submission to Heads of Environmental Protection Authorities (HEPA) on its National Guideline for Lithium-ion Battery Waste Management.

Local governments are experiencing the dangers of unsafe lithium-in battery disposal first hand. They are keen to see uplift in safe management of lithium-ion batteries. But any new guideline must be accompanied with product stewardship, safe design obligations, and funding and implementation support for battery collectors to ensure unfair burden shouldered by councils is not exacerbated.
