$113m on offer in Round 2 of Regional Connectivity Program

Guidelines for Round 2 of the Regional Connectivity Program – focusing on Northern Australia – are being finalised, with grant applications to open shortly.

The program provides competitive grants allowing investment in projects that improve internet accessibility in regional, rural and remote communities.

Round 2 will include additional funding under the Connecting Northern Australia initiative. In all $112.8 million has been earmarked for Round 2, with $46.6 million of this reserved for Northern Australia.

Federal Regional Communications Minister Bridget McKenzie said the program will deliver much-needed opportunities for improving telecommunications infrastructure across Northern Australia.

The draft guidelines went on public exhibition on 15 October, with consultations closing on 29 October.

The program is expected to open for applications this month.
