2018 Australian Coastal Councils Conference

The Australian Coastal Councils Conference is a not to be missed annual event for coastal planners, decision-makers and agencies involved in coastal planning and management. This year it is being held at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre from 21 to 23 March 2018. Conference topics include:

  • Research identifies a new climate hazard – Extreme coastal erosion is intensified by storm wave direction
  • The positive contribution planning can make to prepare coastal communities for change in the 21st century
  • The importance of character and sense of place to coastal residents and
  • The new Great Ocean Road Taskforce prepares to boost investment in the local coastal economy.

There is also a Pre-Conference Forum on Tuesday 20 March to examine planning responses to issues associated with the growth in listings on short-term rental accommodation platforms, such as Airbnb and Stayz, in coastal areas.
