Young leaders and innovators in regional Australia are invited to apply for an incredible package of support as part of the Trailblazer program designed to provide a national platform for regional and local issues.
Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the ABC Heywire Trailblazer program acknowledges regional youth who have created projects to strengthen their communities, working in areas including Indigenous culture, agriculture, business, as well as mental and sexual health.
“Trailblazers is a fantastic initiative shining a light on some of our brightest young regional entrepreneurs and providing them the opportunity to tell their stories on the ABC, and receive networking, mentoring and media coverage,” Dr McVeigh said.
“Many young people are already helping to address the challenges facing regional Australia and through the Trailblazers program they can reach a broader audience and have the opportunity to put some of their ideas into action.”
Dr McVeigh said individuals aged 18 to 28, and groups of up to three, will be offered the chance to take part in a five-day leadership workshop in the Trailblazer Lab in Canberra and to have their projects promoted nationally through the ABC.
“We need more young people to see that you don't have to move to the big cities to make a difference and I would encourage all young regional Australian's to find their voice and submit an application,” Dr McVeigh said.
