Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements -VIC update

From 1 November 2018, the Australian Government’s Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements will be replaced by the new Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The new arrangements will shift from the current reimbursement model for essential asset restoration to up-front estimation, and will require additional asset pre-condition information.

Local Government Victoria recently wrote to Victorian councils advising that the Victorian Government has agreed to continue to pay councils on actual expenditure for claims made through the DRFA from 1 November 2018 until 30 June 2019, with current financial and administrative arrangements and roles and responsibilities to remain in place during this time.

Other states and the Northern Territory are in negotiations with their state governments.

More information about the DRFA is available on the Disaster Assist website.
