The Australia Council for the Arts has advised that local governments can apply for funding to aid recovery in the cultural and creatives industries sector.
The Federal Government is providing $2 million to the Reimagine: Sector Recovery Initiatives which the Australia Council for the Arts will administer.
Recovery initiatives are offered in two streams:
- The cultural and creative solutions funding stream which will invest in ideas and opportunities that create cultural equity, social inclusion and sustainable business models and careers for artists and cultural and creative workers; and
- The industry collaborations stream, which supports future-focused, cross-industry collaborations across and beyond the cultural and creative industries.
Local governments can apply on behalf of council-owned arts centres, venues, galleries and theatres. They can also being encouraged to seek out a partnership or collaboration with an eligible applicant.
Applications for Reimagine: Sector Recovery Initiatives close on 23 February next year. Initiatives can start after 1 May 2021 but must finish by 30 June 2022.
