The Australian Local Government Association, with funding from the Commonwealth, has produced Disability Inclusion Planning – A Guide for Local Government.
This guide will be a valuable resource for councils across Australia by not only assisting them to respond to the requirements of state, territory and Commonwealth legislation and policy, but also to proactively address the cultural change in relation to disability issues, encouraged by the National Disability Strategy 2010-2020 (NDS) and the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The guide was launched in Brisbane on 14 November 2016 by ALGA, the Assistant Minister for Social Services, Jane Prentice MP and the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Graham Quirk.
