Regional inquiry heads to Tumut, NSW, for public hearing

The Federal Parliamentary committee inquiring into matters affecting regional Australia will hold a public hearing in the Tumut region on 14 May.

The chairman of the Select Committee on Regional Australia, Tony Pasin MP, said public hearings had interrupted by the pandemic.

“[But] we’re excited to be hitting the road again to meet and hear from people working in regional Australia and to get a sense of what has worked for them.”

Committee members will visit a local manufacturer, AKD Softwoods, before holding roundtable discussions.

“We want to hear the stories of how the impact of these circumstances has affected everyone, and what strategies they have used to overcome them,” Mr Pasin said.

Community members wishing to attend the hearing will need to pre-book their attendance.
