One hundred and sixty-three new local infrastructure and community projects in drought-affected areas have received funding under Round 4 of the Building Better Regions Fund.
The local infrastructure projects slated to receive $207 million include:
- Tenterfield Water Treatment Plant replacement, NSW ($2,645,000);
- Disability Respite Care Facility in Goondiwindi, Qld ($589,523);
- Construction of Ravensthorpe Cultural precinct in WA ($5,275,800);
- Extension of Bogan Shire Medical Centre in Nyngan, NSW ($350,218);
- WQLX Transit and Spelling Facility upgrade in Longreach, Qld ($719,548); and
- WINGS “Our Youth, Our Future” Redevelopment in Wilcannia, NSW
Funding will also go to community-building initiatives, including:
- Cooper Coast Food Art and Wine Festival in Kadina, SA ($27,000);
- Economic Security4Women Connection program, Qld ($20,000);
- Granite Belt Bites, Beats & Bounce (youth-focused event promoting music, food and physical
- activity) in Stanthorpe, Qld ($20,000); and
- Narrungdera Earth Fest Creative Economy Project in Narrandera, NSW ($136,675)
Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories Nola Marino said: “I look forward to seeing these projects transform their local towns and communities and unlock regional Australia’s economic potential”.
