Consultation on NBN Co regional co-investment fund now open

NBN Co is inviting submissions from local government associations and other stakeholders on the design of its proposed Regional Co-investment Fund.

The $300 million fund is intended to boost connectivity in regional Australia and help communities realise the socio-economic benefits that high-speed broadband can potentially deliver.

Towns and localities in rural and remote areas outside greater capital cities that are served by NBN Co’s Fixed Wireless or Satellite infrastructure will be the fund’s primary targets.

NBN Co has published a consultation paper canvassing the fund’s key design principles – one of which is to ensure that all levels of government across states and territories have equitable access to funding so they can “deliver projects that are a high priority for the relevant area and can help address their digital strategies”.

Individual councils with feedback are encouraged to discuss this with their state or territory local government associations. Click here to access the paper and find out more about the fund.

Consultations end on 29 April.
